Daisy #1

I took quite a long time choosing my title for this blog. I had a feeling I either wanted a Latin quote or an Eels quote. I decided Eels was relatively less pretentious... I love Eels, their music has been the soundtrack for my life for at least the last seven years. This song is one of my favourites. It's all about (in my opinion at least) noticing the good things in our cold, dull world. I want to try to do this from time to time in this blog.

I came across my first daisy today, from a very unexpected source - an article by Alastair Campbell in The Mirror. It was in response to Janet Street Porter's absolutely appalling article which I came across a few days ago. Alastair Campbell said everything I wanted to say in response to her article, far more eloquently than I could have managed. It's very reassuring to know that there are so many people fighting so hard to end discrimination against mental health.

  1. Music is one of my number one sources for blog titles. Thank you for following my blog, I will return the favor.

I've found that often times the creation of art has been my way of dealing with my highs and lows, and believe me there have been many people who tell me that I should seek help, I am just stubborn and refuse and take it out on canvases and journals and the pitch and sway is very relevant in my artwork. I hope this blog helps you through. The form of a creative outlet has helped me so much.

    All the best.

  2. Thank you Mike. Nobody can know whether you should seek help or not except you, and if your artwork helps then that's great. I love your style, which is why I started following you, and I wish I had a creative outlet like that.

But I know that for a long time I was stubborn and refused to seek help, because I was scared and in denial and thought the doctor would just tell me I was being stupid and pathetic, but when I finally did seek help I was so glad I did. Of course I don't know your situation, but I do know I wish I hadn't been so stubborn for so long!
